Salted Prawns Done in The VianD Style

Salted Prawn, well.. not your conventional Chinese style – Prawns wrap with paper and roasted with coarse salt. Really, The Viand don’t really know what to call this, ahaha.. because it is really a dish of fusion, between Chinese and Western style. The Viand came out with this recipe simply because the conventional Chinese way; is just too messy, not only to prepare (with coarse salt and all that) but also during consuming (with all the unwrapping of the paper). And the conventional Western style is just not flavourful enough. Anyway, this is simple and yet pack with the Chinese flavor. Simply marinate the clean Prawns with lots of Salt, Shaoxing wine, a touch of Black pepper, Sugar and Oyster Sauce for a couple of hours. Pan fired the Prawns with a little butter. Just don’t over-cooked the damn Prawns; the texture of an overcooked Prawn is a little tough! Here’s The Viand’s take on Salted Butter Prawns (The VianD Style).




  • Deveined Prawns (with everything intact, head, shell and tail)- marinate with lots of Salted, Shaoxing wine, sugar, Black pepper, Oyster Sauce for at least an hr.



  • Step 1 : Start by melting some butter in a HOT pan. Saute the Prawns for abt 3-4 mins (each side) in high heat or till Prawns turned pink in color. Viola ! Your plate of mouth-watering “Salted Butter Prawns (The VianD Style)” is ready to be served hot.
