“A Simple Economical Comfort Dish”
Stir-fry cubed French beans and Tofu, I believe is an adaptation of some “Szechuan” dish. You do find this being served in many Chinese restaurants as an appetizer (spiced up with Chili oil and dried shrimps). In any case, the VianD grow up eating a milder version of this dish, a very simple economical household dish. Here’s The Viand’s take on “Stir-Fry Cubed French Beans And Tofu“.
- Tofu, French beans, Onion and Chili – all diced.
- Salt, Sugar, Oyster sauce, Sesame oil, White Pepper and Light soy. All to taste. ** Note : Just dash of everything, if U prefer a stronger intensity of an ingredient flavor, simply add a little extra of that ingredient/spice – no rocket scientific measurement here. Always taste your Seasoning !!!
- Step 1 : Start by deep-frying the Tofu which will produce a firmer crispy outer texture – abt 3-5 mins. Alternatively, U can simply stir-fry in high heat with a little oil – till brown. Set aside to drain off excess oil.
- Step 2 : Saute the diced Onion, Chili and some chopped Garlic till aromatic. Add in the beans and stir fry a while and lastly add the Tofu. Add the Seasoning Ingredients. Crank up the heat and give it a few quick stirs and mix well. Plate and viola, simple economical “Stir-Fry Cubed French Beans And Tofu” is ready to be served hot.
