Print-Mao Guo Soup


Main :

  • Mao Guo (Fuzzy/Hairy Gourd or Melon) – peel (make sure all the green-skin are peel, could be tough), cut into quarters and sliced to abt 1cm thick. Sliced lean pork, sliced Ginger and Tung Choy. And the all important Glass noodles – soak for an hr or so (u do need the time, else U’ll end up with broken little pieces of Glass Noodles).
  • Salt, Sugar, a pinch of White pepper, a dash of Sesame oil and Oyster Sauce. All to taste. ** Note : Just dash of everything, if U prefer a stronger intensity of an ingredient flavor, simply add a little extra of that ingredient/spice (no rocket scientific measurement here). Always taste your Seasoning !!!

Start by saute the Ginger slices and some chopped Garlic till aromatic. Add in the sliced lean pork and saute till aromatic. Add in the sliced Mao Guo and saute a while more till aromatic.

Add water, bring to boil, add in the Tung Choy, turn the heat to medium/low and simmer till Mao Guo soften – abt 20-mins. Add the soaked Glass Noodles, add Seasoning Ingredients. Turn the heat back up and bring to boil. Your pot of “Mao Guo Soup (Fuzzy/Hairy Gourd) with Glass Noodle” is ready !! Simple, healthy and delicious !!!
